AFTER
Sure long-term sun exposure has taken its toll on the finishing of your cabinets. Over time, they become dull and faded. For most people, they believe their only solution is to replace the cabinets. However, at New England Refinishing, we can restore your cabinets to like-new condition through our expert cabinet refinishing techniques. We specialize in refinishing and repairing all types of built-in wood cabinets, including:
We can match any color you desire to give your cabinets a completely new look or restore their originally beauty. We pride ourselves in our consultative approach with our clients to determine the project options such as color, hardware, repairs, etc.
Our cabinet refinishing process has been refined through countless cabinet refinishing projects over the past 20 years. Our 4 step process ensures that your cabinets receive a proper finish while minimizing disruption to your room. In most cases, the contents of the cabinet do not have to be removed.
Step 1: Door/Drawer Removal - We start by coming to your home and removing all the cabinet doors and drawers for refinishing at our shop. This step take 1 to 2 hours.
Step 2: Cabinet Door & Drawer Refinishing - since the cabinet doors and drawers represent over 80% of the visible area of your cabinets and they also get the most wear, we refinish these pieces in a controlled environment in our shop. First, all of the hardware is removed. Then, we completely strip the old finishing and refinish the pieces to match the new color. This step takes approximately 3 weeks.
Step 3: Cabinet Frame Refinishing - when step 2 is nearing an end, we call you to schedule this final in-home step. Using a special cleaning solution, we clean the entire exterior of the cabinet frame and then lightly sand the frame to accept the new finish. Then, the exterior of the cabinet frame is refinished according to your color specifications with a water based, odorless finish. This step takes 1 - 2 days.
Step 4: Reassembly - on the final day of step 3, we replace the hardware on the cabinet doors/drawers and reinstall the refinished pieces on the frame. Finally, we clean up the work site, leaving your room exactly as we found it, except for the freshly refinished cabinets.
The entire process from start to finish typically takes 3 to 4 weeks.
