New England Refinishing (NER) was established over 20 years ago to meet the refinishing and restoration needs of local New England communities, home owners and business. New England Refinishing understands and respects the traditions associated within our special geographic area. We are often called upon to assist municipalities, such as town halls, fire departments, and public libraries in the restoration of their fine antiques, which is a testament to our years of experience. In addition to our retail business, we also provide services to antique dealers, collectors, fine furniture dealers, corporations and hotels.
We also provide color consultation and high-end finishing to Interior designers and custom builders. Our many years of experience allow us to custom design stains and colors to meet the designer’s or builder’s clients discriminating needs. Our finishing process allows for Clear, Pigmented, Glazed, or Antique finishes.

New England Refinishing began as a chance for the Owner and Founder, Ed Gillen, to “do what I love”, whose passion for a “hobby” led him to leave high technology 25 years ago and learn to repair and refinish furniture like a professional. New England Refinishing is his business now, but he still talks like a man crazy about a hobby. “My wife says that the best thing that can happen to a customer is to have me fall in love with the piece they bring in. That happens a lot.”
